
My mother was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) more than 30 years ago. This situation gave me the opportunity to become a committee member for the local branch of the MS Society as the young carers representative at the age of 10.
Being a volunteer for the MS Society enriched my life, allowing me to converse with adults that listened to what I had to say.
Although I had to step back from my duties when I went through my GCSEs, and when my father developed a range of illnesses, I still had the opportunity to interview Prime Minister David Cameron about young carers. This was definitely a once-in-a-lifetime encounter, and I know that I am blessed to have had so many life changing experiences at such a young age.
