Social Care
As a care leaver, I have first-hand experience of life in care. I co-train on a course with Derbyshire Social Services called Improving Outcomes for Looked-After Children.

The people I train include social workers, residential workers, foster carers, the charity Action for Children and people in education. Part of my job is sharing the experiences of young people in care. Participants have said the course opened their eyes to change their way of working with young people.

I did work experience with Action for Children's public policy team and now have a greater knowledge of the issues that affect young people and how the policy team uses this information to influence government. I look forward to working on a research project with Action for Children looking at what kind of services are best value for money and best for children's wellbeing.
