Rural Communities: Parish councils are praised for efforts

The councils were announced as the regional winners of the Community Empowerment Awards, run by the Commission for Rural Communities in partnership with the National Association of Local Councils. The winners are: Great Coxwell Parish Council in Oxfordshire; Awre Parish Council in Gloucestershire; Sawtry Parish Council in Cambridgeshire; Hutton le Hole Parish Council in Yorkshire and Humber, and Blakelaw and North Fenham Parish Council in Newcastle.

The winning council will be announced in September.
