It was a fantastic feeling when I was chosen to be the Year 7 student council leader at my school, Prince Henry's Grammar School Specialist Language College.

I was shocked that I got picked out of all the people in my year, which is about 220 people. I was over the moon.

I went on a student council training day at Otley Courthouse, an arts and community centre. It was a good day because we learned everything we needed to know. During the day, Greg Mulholland, the MP, joined us.

Greg told us about the power we have and how to use it, our responsibility about spending and about our roles as student council leaders. He gave us some tips like "get everyone involved in the discussion", "try to make it more interesting" and he said "you need the majority of the votes to win".
