THE CHALLENGE

The Children's Rights Officers and Advocates (CROA) group wanted to find a way to promote children's and young people's participation within local authorities.

It felt care workers could benefit from gaining a better understanding of children's rights, advocacy and how to listen to young people if the young people themselves explained what they needed.

THE SOLUTION

CROA developed a training course called Total Respect aimed at engaging young people within authorities and offering care workers an insight into how young people feel.

Debi Morgan, vice chair of CROA, says: "The course gives young people a chance to offer their viewpoints and explain how they really feel about the care system and the care they receive.
