The programme is based on the recommendations of the Department forCulture, Media and Sport's national play review Getting Serious AboutPlay, which was published in 2004.
How much is on offer: The programme's funds have been divided betweenlocal authorities using a formula based on the number of children livingin an area and the level of deprivation in that authority.
In non-unitary authorities, the funds are given to district councilsrather than county councils. The full list of amounts broken down byregion and local authority is available atwww.biglotteryfund.org.uk/prog_childrens play.htm.
What it will fund: The programme will fund a wide range of children'splay projects including adventure playgrounds, BMX parks, publicplaygrounds, mobile play teams and play workers.
