What it is: Investing in Ideas is a programme run by the Big Lottery Fund. The scheme awards grants to Scottish community groups and organisations to help develop promising small-scale ideas into detailed plans for future success.

The ethos is: "ideas work better when groups have the opportunity oftime and money developing them."

How much is on offer: Groups can receive grants of between 500and 10,000 with the total funds available to help groups designbetter projects set at 4.6m.

What it will fund: Projects receiving funding from Investing in Ideasmust use the money for one of four things: increasing community assets;expanding voluntary and community sector organisations; helping localsfacing life transition, for example the young and old; and improvingcommunity technology.

By offering the funding for key planning procedures such as marketresearch and legal assistance Investing in Ideas hopes ideas can becomeworkable projects.
