It provides investment packages consisting of loans, grants and professional support. All recipients receive mentoring so they can manage loans and successfully compete for contracts. Loans are repaid through income from public sector contracts or fees.
How much is on offer: Since launching in 2004, 238 organisations have benefited from more than £110m. The minimum investment package available is £50,000.
What it will fund: Futurebuilders invests in organisations that deliver services in various areas including crime; community cohesion; education; support for children and young people; and health and social care.
Who can apply: Charities, social enterprises, and community and voluntary groups can all apply. But they need to be either existing public service delivery organisations that want to do more, organisations planning to take their first steps into public service delivery, or new and existing service providers that want to deliver public services in a different way. The organisation's services must primarily benefit people living in England.
