Resources: Funding Watch: B&Q You Can Do It Awards

What it is: Established in 1995, the B&Q You Can Do It Awards aim to help groups in the UK and Ireland create facilities to be used by their local community. The awards are in the form of equipment from the company such as heaters, garden supplies and appliances. Since the scheme's inception, 200 community organisations have been awarded more than 1m worth of equipment.

How much is on offer: There is 100,000 in awards available in the2007 scheme. This has been split into 20 awards of 5,000-worth ofproducts.

What it will fund: Awards are given to create sustainable facilities forlocal communities. This year, particular attention will be paid to thoselooking to save energy and water, for example projects wishing toinstall loft insulation or creating water-saving gardens.

Who can apply: Anyone can apply, regardless of charitable status,including schools, sports clubs and community groups.

Who it has funded: Recipients in the 2006 awards included primaryschools, sports clubs and youth centres. In addition to the full awardslast year, two projects received awards worth 2,500.
