The programme will change the way play is recognised at a national leveland the fund wants to ensure councils are planning appropriately.
The programme has not been delayed. Three first-round applications wererejected for not meeting the criteria. The remaining 16 required furtherwork to make them fundable. Instead of rejecting these, 14 were putforward to further develop their applications for the next round and twovoluntarily withdrew.
We have organised regional workshops to help councils with theapplication process. In addition, the 15m Play England projectwill help councils develop their play strategies.
