Who will it support? There are grants for organisations working with young people and grants for youth-led initiatives. Recipients must be voluntary or community organisations or charitable trusts. Grants for youth-led projects are for young people aged between 16 and 25.
What will it support? Organisational grants are designed to create opportunities to "facilitate a dialogue between young people and decision-makers". Grants for youth-led projects support young people in designing and running their own consultation activities. All proposed activity must have a clear purpose and feed into a specific decision-making process.
Young people's views must reach the appropriate decision-making bodies.
A recent example is "We are Muslims, not terrorists", in which a group of Asian girls from Bolton met House of Commons ministers to address issues surrounding terrorism and discrimination. In another example, North Tyneside Disability Forum organised a project to ensure the opinions and views of disabled young people are considered in decision-making with regard to inclusive education.
