What will it fund? There are two types of grant. Strategic grants are for work of national significance on improving outcomes for children, young people and families. These grants can be for: capacity building - such as staff training, developing quality standards, new resources and monitoring systems; specialist services with a specific client group; or infrastructure provision that provides a co-ordinating, representative or policy development role. Then there are also project grants for discrete, time-limited innovative activities to improve outcomes. The priority areas for 2006 are equality and inclusion, support for parents, looked-after young people, early years, supporting young people back into education and participation of young people in shaping services and decision-making. Projects will need to be easy to replicate and capable of scaling up.
