RESEARCH: Lottery money funds projects

1 min read

Family Mediation Scotland, which provides support services for young people experiencing a family breakdown, was given 166,730 to conduct a research project around the experiences of young people.

The Buttle Trust received 177,818 for research into the factors that make students prone to suicide, and to look at good practice in the field.

An award of 177,612 went to crime-reduction charity the Howard League for Penal Reform. The grant will be used over three years to find ways of cutting re-offending among young men aged 18 to 20 who have served a short prison sentence.

Diana Brittan, chair of the Community Fund, which awarded the cash, said: "Each project will create better understanding of how to help young people through difficult times."
