Northern Ireland: Lottery funds youth projects

The Upper Andersonstown Community Forum in West Belfast is one project to benefit, receiving 150,000 over the next three years to reach about 60 young people who are not engaging with youth services.

The young people are instead congregating on streets, drinking and fighting. There are also fears of a growing knife culture.

Tish Holland, director of the forum, said: "For the past 10 years I have sent more than 60 funding applications and have received nothing. The biggest gap is a lack of outreach work but we don't have the resources."
