Project: Re:Fuel
Funding: £20,000 from Barnet Youth and Connexions, the Milly Apthorp Charitable Trust and Barnet Small Grants
Aim: To get young offenders involved in dance
Young people involved with Barnet Youth Offending Service took part in a dance theatre project in a bid to steer them away from crime.
The participants were all aged 15 to 18 and were serving non-custodial community sentences, as well as not being in employment, education or training.
The programme was an intensive dance theatre project, which aimed to re-engage the young people by encouraging personal ambition and creativity.
The initiative was organised by theatre group artsdepot, in partnership with dance theatre company Jump Start Move. Twelve members of staff from the groups were on hand to support the young people and they were given the chance to work towards an accredited arts award.
