When I learned that Peterborough Racial Equality Council and Greater Peterborough Partnership had organised a "Free-D" discussion event, I jumped at the opportunity to attend. The discussion's theme was foreign policy, featuring guest speakers from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Cambridgeshire Constabulary.
My friends and I headed to the event and were surprised to see at least 100 people there. I liked the mature format of the debate. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office official was prepared to answer any questions, which created an open and approachable atmosphere. After the event, my friends and I continued the discussion. We are now thinking about holding our own events. Free discussion is a powerful tool and we should use it to our advantage.
