Liam West, 18, Leeds

There are so many positive vibes in the Leeds Youth Council. Having been elected, young people have been supported and feel able to make a positive contribution to Leeds.

As a peer support worker I recently attended the Leeds City Council Vision for Leeds conference. I was a guest speaker informing the Leeds executive about what young people would like to see happen to the city centre in the next 20 years.

With the Leeds Youth Council I have contributed to major events such as Hear by Right - a set of guidelines which are currently being put in place to ensure young people participate in decision making.

- Liam West is a member of Leeds Youth Council, a democratically elected group of young people that reaches out to 38,000 students. The council is made up of members of school councils and student unions.
