If I were in charge, I would make sure students aren't classed as "underachieving" just because they aren't very good at English or maths.

They might be good at other activities - building or designing. Like me, they might be creative but not good at maths, but they have talent. Teachers may look down on students who struggle with the main curriculum.

I don't think students should have to do lessons such as PE in a group of mixed ability. A lot of people struggle in activities such as football and rugby whereas others will be good at them and will get annoyed with those not as good at it. Students are forced to do PE most of the time, and the teachers barely do anything about it when students are called "crap".
