If I Were in Charge of ... The Media

1 min read Participation
The media shows the stereotypical teenager as a hoodie, an outcast and a bruise on society. This means people think that young people are vandals and criminals.

I take exception to those people. I am not that sort of person. There are lots of nice young people, but some people insult us and assume we are not good citizens. What can we do?

If I were in charge of the media I would cover more of the good stories, so people would be less likely to have stereotypical opinions of us. I would tell stories of how successful schools are and about the great things young people do.

I am on the Leeds Youth Council and I chose to be on the "making a positive contribution" working group, which tackles getting fairer representation of young people in the media. If we don't help young people get a better image, the world will have a bad image of us.
