I'm involved in Victim Support's peer mentoring scheme at Greensward Academy in Essex. I work with fellow pupils to support students with the issues they're facing.

The scheme has had a positive impact on lots of students' lives - it gives them the chance to speak to another young person about what they're going through. I think it needs to be offered in every school, if only on a basic level.

We want to build on our success by expanding the mentoring scheme at Greensward. Although we've helped to introduce mentoring programmes at other schools across the county, we want to keep up the momentum so that similar schemes can be introduced elsewhere.

As recognition of my work as a peer mentor, I was named young volunteer of the year at Victim Support's annual volunteer awards ceremony last November.
