PROJECT NOTES: Youth 2 Youth

1 min read

Goals: To get young people more involved in decision-making at local level

Funding: The pilot scheme received 1,000 from North Hertfordshire District Council.

As with most regions of the UK, young people in north Hertfordshire have very little say in the decision-making process in their local area. Their views are at best taken into account and at worst not sought at all.

To address this, community development officers at the local council set up Youth 2 Youth to give teenagers the chance to become more involved in the running of their community. With limited funding available, a pilot programme was made available to seven young people from the local Letchworth and Baldock areas to seek their views about issues that affected their lives.
