PROJECT NOTES: A video project by teenagers in the Leeming Cru

1 min read

Goals: To persuade local authorities to provide some land for the teenagers to race motorbikes

Funding: Received funding from Marks & Spencer, Youth in Action and Borehamwood Community Chest

The young people of Leeming Street, Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, decided to send a videoed "letter to the community" when they became fed up with being seen as a nuisance. The 25-minute video was created after the teenagers, the Leeming Cru, approached youth workers from Groundwork Hertfordshire.

Known locally as troublemakers, the teenagers wanted Groundwork to help explain to the community their desire to find some land to race motorbikes on. Boredom due to a lack of facilities contributed to the rise in crime by the teenagers.
