Nineteen-year-old Carlos Salvador Joao was going nowhere fast. As a keen footballer without the ability to make it as a professional, he struggled to find work. After months of searching, the teenager from Harlesden in west London was referred to the Goals Project, a scheme to help local young people from disadvantaged backgrounds learn personal development skills.
Only days after completing the course, the talented ball juggler was offered the chance to be a body double for Arsenal and France striker Sylvain Wiltord in a TV commercial for a sports brand.
