Goal: A two-strand scheme that uses football as a springboard to encourage young people to acquire skills that could lead to employment
Funding: London Central Learning and Skills Council has provided 84,300 for the project
Regeneration and housing organisation The Peabody Trust has won a grant from the London Central Learning and Skills Council to help young people in seven London boroughs improve their skills and job prospects.
Targeting 16 to 19-year-olds, the Sports Success strand is aimed at those who performed poorly at school and did not take up post-school education, but who are interested in football.
It uses the sport - including a weekly coaching session hosted by Arsenal Football Club - to help them gain skills that could lead to either a job or further training in the sports industry.
