Project notes: Ruchazie Youth Club Community Project

1 min read

Goals: To mark Youth Work Week; and to encourage the young people to respect the area and interact with the community

Funding: 2,500 from Bishopwoods Area Forum, 500 from YouthBank

For young people in Easterhouse, Glasgow, Youth Work Week has come early.

The week itself takes place between 1 and 7 November, but the 11- to 18-year-olds who attend two youth clubs in Ruchazie Community Centre took part last week because half-term in Glasgow runs from 17 to 21 October.

The theme of this year's Youth Work Week is "enjoying and achieving".

The young people of Easterhouse interpreted this through a partnership project that aimed to create a communal area by transforming a piece of land into a green space for the inner-city community. They worked alongside other members of the community including youth workers.
