What it is: Youth Acting Up, Mid Bedfordshire Goals: To raise awareness of antisocial behaviour through drama Funding: 500 from National Crimebeat for two years; 500 from Bedfordshire Crimebeat; 200 from Millennium Volunteers
The high profile of antisocial behaviour in the media can leave some young people confused as to what all the fuss is about. So youth drama project Youth Acting Up, from Mid Bedfordshire, decided to tackle the lack of awareness it found among its peers about what constitutes antisocial behaviour and its repercussions.
The group wrote a play depicting scenes of antisocial behaviour by both young people and adults. The project came third in the National Crimebeat 2004 awards, and the group has recently produced a DVD of the play with workshop activities for youth groups.
