Funding: 500 from the Guildford Local Strategic Partnership and 500 from Surrey County Council
Reality TV may have become a modern-day curse, but for one project in Guildford reality TV concepts such as the Big Brother diary room have led to real advancements in consulting young people.
The idea was first raised in a meeting between Guildford Local Strategic Partnership and youth workers to discuss methods of consulting young people.
The "diary room" format has succeeded where others failed, says Lucy Andrews, community learning adviser for Guildford and Waverley Surrey Lifelong Learning Partnership: "We tried open days but they had low turnout rates."
