Any surprises here? Most of it is as you might guess. More than three-quarters of young people and professionals think it's a good idea that authorities should have a pledge laying out what they will provide for young people in their care, while 92 per cent of young people want to influence decision-making through participation in a Children in Care council (CICC).
Young people insist their status should be reflected by the involvement of directors and elected members. Pledges should be specific, while CICCs are seen as a useful antidote to workers who "talk too much during meetings" but should be backed up by other ways of involving young people.
