So are the kids all right in Northern Ireland? This research set out to find what wasn't right and, predictably, that is what it found.

The opening of the summary document is, "children's rights and particularly the (UN) Convention's guiding principles are inadequately protected in Northern Irish law ...", so you know where they are coming from.

What is the background for the research? The Northern Ireland commissioner for children and young people ordered it from Queen's University with a view to analysing how current law and policy reflects the general principles and UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. This audit meant analysing documentary evidence and interviewing children, young people and key professionals.
