Policy & Practice: Briefing - Report reveals the big picture onobesity

2 mins read

So what kind of report is this? This is very much a "gimme the facts" report rather than one full of analysis and policy recommendations. That, of course, will surely follow.

OK, so what are the facts we're given? The first part of the report looks at the number and proportion of people in 2003 who were overweight or obese. Figures are given for adults and for two- to 15-year-olds, though some tables break down that information further into age bands of two to five, six to 10 and 11 to 15. Later sections look back at trends in recent years and extend them from 2003 to make predictions for 2010. Information is also broken down into demographic categories including gender and social class.
