Places to go - Stratford-upon-Avon

1 min read Youth Work
The birthplace of Shakespeare is an ideal place to take a youth group for a pre-Christmas break.

The town centre offers lots of shops and cafes where young people can hang out, but the real attraction is the town's historical associations with the Bard. The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) has a base here - productions in November at the Courtyard Theatre include A Midsummer Night's Dream, Love's Labour's Lost and Hamlet. As an added attraction, the actor David Tennant - aka Dr Who - is appearing in the latter two plays.

No trip to Stratford-upon-Avon would be complete without a trip to Anne Hathaway's Cottage, the childhood home of Shakespeare's wife. The house is located in the hamlet of Shottery about a mile from the centre of the town. Groups are also welcome at Mary Arden's House, the home of Shakespeare's mother and now a countryside museum.
