Participation: Young Scot to start activities database

The database will allow young people to search for activities and discounts available, on the web and by phone.

Young people will be able to personalise information they receive and sign up for alerts.

The service will be part of the Young Scot site and tested over the next few weeks, with completion expected this summer.

Deputy chief executive Louise Macdonald said: "This will connect young people to their communities."

In England the Government is understood to be considering an online system enabling young people to book discounted activities as a replacement for the youth opportunity card.
