The Young TransNet Project was launched by the National Children's Bureau in 1998. It uses IT and the internet to allow young people to research and express their ideas about transport issues. Its long-term aim is to make walking, cycling and public transport better for children and young people.
Leicester Young TransNet was launched on 6 March and joins schemes in Birmingham, Somerset, Devon, Bristol, Northeast Lincolnshire and Oxfordshire.
Councillor Culdipp Bhatti, cabinet lead for highways and transportation at Leicester City Council, said: "This will enable young people help to shape the council's transport plans."
