Runaways: Barnardo's sets up project in Leicester

The two-year Safe4U project, which operates in Leicestershire and Rutland, is part of a series of Department for Education and Skills-funded projects designed to examine different models of working with young runaways (YPN, 22-28 September, p2).

Safe4U will provide a helpline for 10- to 16-year-old runaways that is open from 5pm to 12am every day. Outside these hours calls will be redirected to the national Runaways Helpline. Leicester City Council, Leicestershire County Council and Rutland County Council are also involved in the project.
