Participation: Haringey service revamp allows more youth input

1 min read

They will work alongside the head of youth services following completion of a multimillion pound development of its buildings in March 2006.

Three buildings are being developed with about 3.3m from the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund and the youth service. A 400,000 Duke of Edinburgh's Award centre will provide access to outdoor education. It will be linked to the nearby specialist sports college and Haringey Youth Service's own outdoor education centre in Crickhowell, south Wales.

Another 2.9m is being spent on a youth facility behind an existing youth club in Tottenham. An egg-shaped "pod" at the top of the building will house a music recording and editing suite with a film-making studio underneath. The building will be fully IT-equipped and will also have chill-out areas, counselling rooms and a kitchen. The existing centre will also be refurbished and head of youth service, Dibs Patel, will be located there to help young people.
