Riot damage hits Haringey youth offending service

Haringey's youth offending team has been moved after its building on Tottenham High Road was damaged in the London riots.

Staff from the youth offending service have been shifted to premises near Turnpike Lane, in Haringey.

While the building was not among the five that was deemed structurally unsafe, the damage forced the team to temporarily relocate.

Following the events of the past three days Haringey council leader Claire Kober has now called on the government to offer immediate financial help to support families who have lost their homes. 

"We require immediate assistance to rebuild the environment and restore community confidence," she said. "By this I mean an immediate injection of visible policing to help regain stability and assistance to resource a late summer campaign of engagement and activity for young people.
