The Just Cities project, which is run by youth enterprise organisation Capacity Global, will initially offer a group of six 15-year-olds from the south London borough the chance to travel to the European Parliament to share their views on "creating better and environmentally just cities".
The group will also take part in workshops aimed at broadening their outlook on "other people's quality of life", as well as hosting an environment and human rights conference for young people.
The pilot will run until Nov-ember, after which the project will be open to applicants across the UK. Iara Ferreira, Just Cities project assistant, said: "It's about political awareness - it will allow young people to voice concerns about their environment." She added that Just Cities was "planning to get in touch with other councils" to extend the project.
