Our Environment Our Future

1 min read Funding
The Big Lottery Fund is investing £30m across the UK to support young people aged between 11 and 24 to improve their local environments.

Successful projects are intended to make a significant change in the quality of their urban and rural environments, as well as develop young people. The project is being managed by a consortium headed by the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts.

How much is available?
It is anticipated that the Our Environment Our Future project will fund between 25 and 35 projects. Each successful application will receive between £750,000 and £1m.

What will it fund?
Organisations making applications must be a registered charity, operate in the UK, and be able to demonstrate the ability to manage large-scale projects.

Proposed projects must meet a series of criteria: be developed from existing proven good practice and scale-up or replicate a previous approach; be informed and steered by young people; demonstrate relevant community engagement; demonstrate positive impact on young people, local communities and the environment; contribute to informing local and national policy through their evaluation findings; and last for five years.
