PARTICIPATION: Lancashire receives European award

1 min read

The 18 young people visited Berlin in Germany, then travelled to Poznan in Poland, where they were presented with the Assembly of European Regions award. Lancashire came top out of 40 European entrants.

In Poland, they met their peers from the Poland Youth Organisation and advised the Assembly of European Regions representatives about how best to help Europe's youth.

Emma McGurrin, assistant youth participation co-ordinator, who helped compile the bid for the award, said: "The Polish and German youth were impressed by our young people's self-understanding. The trip was a big opportunity for everyone to learn something new."

County councillor Hazel Harding added: "It was a great achievement for the young people, who are committed to having their say and helping to shape the future of Lancashire."
