The Thomas Coram Research Unit interviewed 99 parents who usedParentline Plus's Parentline for an evaluation of the advice and supporthelpline. The unit found challenging behaviour by children accounted formore than half of the 99 calls and that 56 per cent of callers describedtheir problem as "very serious".
Men accounted for a fifth of calls to the helpline reported theevaluation, due to be published tomorrow (26 April). Researchers alsofound GPs and schools were the most popular places for parents to go tofor help before turning to Parentline.
