Get REAL (Residential Exciting Active Leisure) is available to all 11- to 17-year-olds, and is supported by 1.1m of lottery money from the New Opportunities Fund.
The counties of Cumbria, Nottinghamshire, Devon and Cornwall, which suffer from rural isolation, have been selected to take part in the pilot.
Programmes on offer include outdoor activities, creative arts, and environmental projects.
Brathay Hall Trust has been appointed as lead management and recruitment body for the programme, and will be also be one of the deliverers along with Nottinghamshire Youth Service, Outward Bound, BTCV and others.
"These will be developmental training courses rather than just holidays," said Mike Blakey, project manager at Brathay. "They'll be helping people to move on, and they'll be good pieces of youth work."
