Opinion: IF I were in charge of ... the internet - Yasmine Kutner, 11, London

I would make sure that all the chat rooms are safe; I would do this by having a person watch over the conversation. If anyone went on the chat rooms, there would be a notice to remind them not to give out any personal information. They could also tell the person watching the chat room if they felt unsafe.

I would make it so that anyone could download anything they wanted for free, such as books, songs and movies. Everything would download really fast as well and nothing would have any viruses.

Young kids would be protected from inappropriate material like rude and violent games. A warning would appear automatically if you went on an adults' site. There would also be an email address to contact if you had any questions or felt unsafe.

Pop-up ads would be illegal because they are really annoying. When searching for facts, only truthful sites would be found not just anybody's site.

My favourite thing to do on the internet is play games. The internet is important for kids so they can talk to their friends. If they haven't seen their friends for a while they can just chat with them online.
