Opinion: If I were in charge of London, Katerina Getsevich, 18,west London

1 min read
My whole aim is to build up the youth community in London. I'd have a massive event and invite all young people aged 10 to 19. There would be a consultation on how to improve things for young people. Once we had come up with some ideas I'd like to meet up with the Government and take them through everything.

I would cut transport costs for under 18s. Young people need theopportunity to travel to different activities and events and the cost isstopping them from taking part. I would get more activities running foryoung people including some directly leading to the media, such asdocumentaries on youth life.

Most importantly I'd sort out the police and the way they treat us, likewhen they stop and search us and don't explain what they're doing. I'deither punish the police or run lessons for them with young people asfacilitators.

Many of us live on our own and have to pay our own bills and not many ofus have got jobs. We need a wider choice of training opportunities - notjust mainstream ones like carpentry, plastering or working in ashop.
