We welcome the opportunity for award participants to gain further recognition for their commitment to volunteering.

Our experience has shown that young people are keen to become involved with voluntary activities that benefit their communities. The chance to gain national accreditation is an additional incentive.

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award already includes a voluntary element and involving the Millennium Volunteer (MV) programme has meant a significant increase in the number of young people who choose to become young leaders.

More than 8,500 award participants over the age of 16 have chosen to register their volunteering with MV, which has led to more youth leadership.
