Your interesting article highlights a common theme on the lack of sustainability of children's centres in deprived areas but paints a dismal picture for the future of new centres (CYP Now, 26 September - 2 October).
I hardly ever read about centres that are doing well, meeting the full core offer and enjoying a high rate of attendance, so for the record Gamesley Children's Centre in Glossop, Derbyshire, is buzzing with children, families and activities and is offering the full core service in one of the top 10 per cent most deprived areas in the country.
Our under-three's department is full, so is the out-of-school club for five- to 11-year-olds. More than 250 children attend our centre for care and nursery education and more than 300 adults for adult education and NVQ training.
