VOLUNTARY HELP FOR CWDC

It is interesting to see that the Children's Workforce Development Council (CWDC) is preparing a programme to enable the voluntary sector workforce to deliver youth work (CYP Now, 10-16 September). I find this interesting because this is exactly the work my organisation has been delivering since 1942.

It was heartening to read in print something that we have been aware of for many years: that the voluntary sector comprises the largest part of the workforce.

I was also taken aback that the voluntary sector needs to be trained to be able to carry out work on behalf of the statutory sector. Surely when you are doing someone a favour it is because you have something they need already and are prepared to help them out?
