CONNEXIONS HIGHLY VALUED

In response to your story about YouthNet's survey saying only one in five young people find Connexions services helpful, here's some hard data about the service (CYP Now, 31 October-6 November).

On average there are 40,000 visits a week to Connexions centres and one-stop shops, according to the National Audit Office. In 2005/06 there were 4.2 million interventions by Connexions and Connexions Direct (A Parliamentary answer given on 29 March).

Some 63 per cent of young people want to receive information and advice on education and career choices face-to-face (Youth Matters consultation). There is a 92 per cent awareness rate and 93 per cent satisfaction rate with Connexions among 13- to 19-year-olds.
