- Good prevention

It is fantastic the think-tank IPPR is shining a light on the benefit of preventive work in youth crime (CYP Now, 20-26 February). But there seems to be a gap in many areas for five- to 13-year-olds. Organisations like Chance UK have sought to meet that need with Children's Fund money. However, it is not ringfenced for prevention.

Chance UK has seen the growing gap in services between Sure Start and services for teenagers and is developing partnerships to replicate best practice. Hopefully, if any new initiative does follow the IPPR's report, it will support and recognise existing programmes rather than reinvent the wheel.
