On the Ground: Me & My Youth Worker - 'I'm hoping to go to art college'

1 min read
Mahler Fox, 15, and Frank James, support worker at The Ivy Project, Exeter.

- How did you start working together?

Frank: "Mahler was referred to the project by Connexions just over a year ago. He was on the verge of exclusion from school so we were asked if we would be able to help."

Mahler: "Things weren't going well at school. I didn't really like it that much. They gave me the option of coming here one day a week, so I said yes."

- How often do you work together?

Frank: "Mahler comes one day a week during term times. He is here between 10am and 2.30pm and we do one-to-one arts projects together. Mahler is mainly interested in street art, so we have been working on various graffiti pieces. Our approach has been to ask him about what stuff he wants to do and take it from there."
