Funding £250 from the High Sheriff's Award
Aim To identify crime reduction schemes
The awards invite and encourage young people to put forward innovative and exciting ideas for projects that have an impact on crime reduction. The winning ideas are given funding to help with start-up costs, and are entered into the National Crimebeat Awards.
This year, the current High Sheriff of Sussex, Deborah Bedford, has worked in collaboration with East Sussex County Council's YouthBank scheme. YouthBank considers bids from young people for funding to improve youth facilities, activities and their local communities. Bedford recently met with 30 young people linked to YouthBank to tell them about the awards and ask for their help with possible crime-busting ideas.
